Meet The Founder
Andy Jordan
I'm the founder of Compy Fabrication, and I run everything out of my shop here in Longmont, Colorado.
I've always been inclined to take things apart, put 'em back together, and generally tinker. It wasn't long after I purchased my '40 that I was inspired by the community with all the support they've provided (I've done a lot of projects on Fritz). I wanted to give back.
When I got to fixing the gas smell in my '40 (and found the lack of options out there for replacement evap separators), I saw the opportunity and started Compy Fab.
Meet Fritz! My 1978 FJ40
I bought my FJ40 at the start of 2025, and it has since become my daily driver. It's a 1978 US-spec FJ40 with a hardtop, and I chose it because A) it had ambulance doors (kids demanded), and B) it was red. That's about the extent of the research I did, and boy was I in for a ride.
At some point in its life, it made its way down to Columbia, was and then was "restored" and re-imported to the US in the early 2020s. I lucked out in many ways- All I've had to do is fix a myriad of electrical problems and redo the coolant system, the ignition system, the fuel system, source a bunch of missing and incorrect parts, etc. Easy!
In all honesty, had it been a perfect specimen, I would never have re-discovered my love of wrenching, and Compy Fab wouldn't exist. If you're curious about the build, check out my 'Mud post!
How I Design & Build Your Parts
Enjoy a virtual tour of the Compy Fabrication assembly-line!
Research
Dimensions, variants, hardware, and a lot of back-and-forth with folks on the 'Mud forums. Check out my development thread for my evap separator.
CAD & Prototyping
Early iterations are simple mockups to validate clearances, later prototypes are functional. This is a back and forth process until I'm happy with the part.
Community Testing
I look for a few folks from the community to put a prototype through its paces to make sure the part will work in the real world.
Manufacturing, Assembly, Testing and Packaging
All our products are built right here in Longmont, Colorado. Each is built, inspected, tested, and packaged by me before it heads out to you!
